Originally 9 Miles Martinet target towing aircraft were bought for the use of the Fighter School at Koksijde, that were all delivered in 1947.
Two of the former Royal Air Force aircraft were in such bad condition that they were refused by the Belgian authorities and were replaced by two additional aircraft.
The Martinets were used by the mysterious 'Flight 600'. This unit did not exist on paper, but was a overall name for all flying units at Koksijde until in January 1948 the Advanced Flying School and the Air Gunnery School (to which the target towing flight belonged) were formed as part of the Fighter School.
